With all our technological advances, it seems almost ridiculous to see that the primal failing of online learning comes down to one platform
- OneNote. With the crash of OneNote through the first week of Australia's Term 2 of teaching online, teachers, students and families alike
are facing a spate of technological disruptions when it comes to the education of students.
So, how can you cope if your child can't access their required learning tasks for the day or week? Of course nothing can replace the work a teacher has crafted to meet the learning outcomes of the students, but there are some things you can do to help your child succeed.
Contact the Teacher
It may seem straightforward, but a lot of parents/families are reluctant to contact their child's teacher directly. It's definitely worth flicking off a quick email to see if resources can be emailed or distributed another way so that the student can still get their work done.
Take It Into Your Own Hands
If you're feeling confident, create your own lesson! See where your student is up to in their textbook etc and craft a mock-up lesson that you think will hit those learning outcomes. Heaps of websites are offering free worksheets and booklets that you can download when it comes to maths and science, and for humanities and English, you can ask your child to write up a TEEL/PEEL paragraph with your own question and "sources" if needed (a quick google search of the topic usually does the trick!
