Childrens Book Week 2024!

It's that time of the year again when the pages come alive and imaginations soar—Children’s Book Week® is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for the official celebration from Saturday, August 17 to Friday, August 23, 2024. This week-long event, proudly highlighted by the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA), is a golden opportunity to immerse ourselves in the enchantment of children's literature and ignite a lifelong love of reading in young hearts.

Children’s Book Week® is the CBCA’s flagship event, and it’s a joyful celebration that stretches beyond the confines of the calendar week. Schools, libraries, and community organizations are all gearing up to bring the magic of reading to life in their own unique ways. Whether it's through themed activities, engaging story sessions, or creative book displays, the essence of Children’s Book Week® is to foster a vibrant and inclusive reading culture.

But here’s the best part: the celebration doesn’t have to be confined to just one week. We love the idea that the excitement and passion for children’s books can extend throughout the year. Schools and libraries often weave their festivities around other events and schedules, making the joy of reading a continual theme in their communities.

No matter when or how you choose to celebrate Children’s Book Week®, we encourage you to help spread the word. The mantra for this year is “Reading is Magic,” and we want everyone to experience that magic firsthand. Share your book-related activities, showcase your favorite reads, and inspire others to dive into the wonderful world of children’s literature.

So, as we approach this annual celebration, let’s come together to honor the stories that shape young minds and the books that hold the keys to countless adventures. Let’s make every day a little brighter and a lot more magical with the power of reading. Happy Children’s Book Week® 2024!
